After years of not having a Batman film and mostly due to the franchise hitting bottom thanks to Joel Schumacher’s disastrous “Batman forever” and “Batman and Robin”, Christopher Nolan display us his version of the character with an impressive all star cast anda legend brilliantly written by David S. Goyer.

The film

There were high expectations for this film before its release as if would it be as splendid as Burton’s films, the truth is, there are no points to compare, Nolan and Burton visions are quite different from each other, but both respect the origins and essence of who the character is.

Goyer took some liberties in the storytelling that could be considered as unforgivable by many fans (Bruce’s parents are originally killed after seeing “Heed of Zorro” at the movie theater, a fact that marks Bruce’s mind with the concept of a masked vigilante) but also hints at stuff that the previous versions let pass unnoticed, the main focus of this film are the origins of Batman and his training to become what he ultimately is. Even though the detective section of Bruce’s training is not even mentioned, the twist in which Ra’s Al Ghul (Liam Neeson) is the one who trained him in the ninja arts and theatricality impartial makes their conflict more luscious and captivating. Cameos and appearances of characters from the comical book are also well aged, justified and essential to the chronicle (Carmine Falcone and killer Zsaz)

The tale uses the two villains exactly as they would act in the humorous book, Ra’s Al Ghul with his constant desire to spot thing legal his design and Jonathan Crane (Cillian Murphy) working and experimenting with the thing he enjoys the most: alarm. Even though the Scarecrow is totally the opposite of the humorous book (in the laughable Jonathan Crane is an worn and repulsive doctor who was fired from Gotham University for experimenting on the students with his gas of dread), the character presented keeps the essence and motives that the new character has, unlike the Riddler, Mr Freeze, Two Face or Poison Ivy in Schumacher’s unpleasant versions.

A original Gotham city is presented, remarkable more like a NY city style, a recent Batmobile (not as worship as the previous ones but quite impressive) and a whole state of characters we inquire of to look in future releases, James Gordon (Gary Oldman who amazingly looks exactly as Jim in the amusing), Alfred Pennyworth (Michael Caine), Lucius Fox (Morgan Freeman), Jonathan Crane, Carmine Falcone and Ra’s Al Ghul.

Masterfully executed by the whole cast and brilliantly directed by Nolan, there are many of us looking forward for a sequel to this film.

The extras

Disc one contains Mtv’s “Tankman Begins”, a spoof we could have lived without but without any doubt a collector’s allotment for all Mtv fans.

Disc two contains a space of documentaries related to all aspects of production and shooting of the film, from the early beginnings in Nolan’s washing room until the shooting of some of the most difficult sequences of the film. The disc 2 is organized in a humorous book-like format which makes it a petite difficult to follow as many things are like hidden, but if you go until the raze of the short and pointless account, you will acquire a list with all documentaries available. One of the documentaries called “Genesis of the bat” presents comical book artist related to Batman talking about the character and film, from Dennis O’Neil to Jim Lee. I am obvious this will be a part fans of the amusing book will be pleased. All extras are great of watching and I strongly recommend the 2 disc dwelling, it is a 5 o 6 dollar disagreement that will compensate with all the facts and items found in the bonus materials.

***BluRay review***

I had already written a review for this film when the two-disc special edition was released on DVD, so I will not acquire into any details about how titanic the movie is.

The treatment they gave to this release is astonishing, image looks colossal and colors are shapely, the high definition definitely makes a disagreement and ‘Batman Begins’ looks better than ever (simply check out the ice sequence between Bruce and Ducard)

I have seen threads with questions as to what exactly does the petite edition place contains versus the regular single disc, so here are what I consider are the most famous ones:

The Disc

The disc included here is the same disc they released separately:

* All the extras from the 2-disc DVD are included, the documentaries and the terrible ‘Tankman Begins’

* The prologue to ‘The Dusky Knight’ in high definition (are we in for a treat when released on Bluray!) This is basically the bank robbery scene that opens the sequel.

The Extras

The USB with 18 the stills from ‘The Sunless Knight’ included in the DVD version of the gift plot IS NOT INCLUDED in the Bluray gift set; don’t know what the reason is but it would have made sense to include it in both versions.

The postcards included are selections from the art created to promote ‘Batman Begins’, in my concept some of the images behold simple and overall they are not that vast.

The two silly books included are a joke! One is a silly book adaptation of the same 6 minutes prologue included in this edition (the bank robbery), the other one is the script with pictures of the same 6 puny prologue! I am a collector and enormous fan of Batman and even I pick up this ridiculous and overpriced.

The $7.50 coupon to seek ‘The Shadowy Knight’ in theaters.

Bottom-line, I would give 3 stars to the BluRay release, not to the movie itself (which is tall and looks suitable in HD) but to the release. I am having buyer’s remorse, don’t be fooled by what the product description says, it may sound involving but had I known the extras would be as they are, I would have gone for the cheaper single disc edition.

Since his first dramatic appearance in Detective Comics in 1939, Batman has grown to become a pop-culture icon. From movie serials in the 40’s, to a classic campy TV display in the 60’s, to a solid attractive series in the 90’s, fans have thrilled to the shapely heroics of this modern character. However, as a film franchise, he has brought results that were somewhat less than impressive creatively. While the Tim Burton directed films, BATMAN and BATMAN RETURNS were stylish and dusky, they also suffered from status holes you could drive a Batmobile through. Then Joel Schumacher introduced a Day-Glo sensibility to the Murky Knight in BATMAN FOREVER, before drowning the character in ludicrous costumes (a Bat suit with nipples??? ), pun-filled foes, and whiney sidekicks in the lousy BATMAN & ROBIN. By then, Batman as cinematic property had become a laughingstock. Fortunately, indie film director Christopher Nolan reinvigorates the franchise in magnificent originate in BATMAN BEGINS, a reboot of the Batman epic that, for the first time, puts the focus squarely on our hero and not on the over-the-top villains of past films. Nolan also bases the film in a strong semblance of reality that allows the audience to not only gather the possibility of the winged vigilante, but embrace it as well.

Most fans already know the record of how wealthy Bruce Wayne (Christian Bale) loses his parents when they are slain during an attempted robbery, but the movie also tells how he chose the bat as his symbol, as well as the steps needed to become the avenger of the night that he turns into. Disillusioned and frustrated by Gotham City’s substandard judicial system, the young Wayne goes abroad to scrutinize the criminal mind. Later, while locked in an Asian prison, Wayne is recruited by the enigmatic Ducard (Liam Neeson), who offers him a path in which to focus his inflame and hone his skills. Wayne eventually joins his unique mentor as a recruit in the mysterious League of Shadows, headed by the rank Ra’s Al Ghul (Ken Wantanabe) . Eventually, Wayne realizes that he cannot follow the League’s uncouth methods of dispensing justice and returns to Gotham to forge his have design. It soon turns out that Wayne’s return is fair in time as Gotham falls prey to a dread epidemic engineered by the hooked Dr. Jonathan Crane AKA “the Scarecrow” (Cillian Murphy) and a familiar figure from Wayne’s past.

From the top on down, this film is blessed with a solid cast that adds wonderfully to Nolan’s vision. As the title hero, Christian Bale blows all other Batman portrayers out of the water with his intense and scary select of the role. This is a Batman that you not only awe, but can record to as well. In fact, he turns in the definitive performance. Michael Caine adds warmth and humor as Wayne’s steady butler, Alfred. Liam Neeson does a big variation of his usual mentor roles as Ducard, a man with his fill surprising secret. As an assistant DA and Wayne’s childhood friend, Katie Holmes does a nice job with what is basically a thankless role. Cillian Murphy makes for a perfectly creepy Scarecrow, while Morgan Freeman is solid as usual as the man who provides Batman’s wondrous car and gadgets. Gary Oldman is wonderfully cast against type as Jim Gordon, one of Gotham’s few unbiased cops. The scene in which he drives the tank-like Batmobile is a sheer delight.

The screenplay by Nolan and David Goyer (who wrote the BLADE films) is awash with characterization and motivation…something that you don’t watch in many silly book films as a rule. In fact, you derive so engrossed by the proceedings that you almost forget that you are watching a “superhero” film in the first state. The special effects are old-fashioned to enhance the narrative and not overpower it, while the spot build pictures a Gotham that is a fresh detestable of Chicago, Original York and Hong Kong. If there is a flaw, it lies in some of the fight sequences. Done in close-ups and posthaste cuts, they can fetch frustrating for those who want to survey more of Batman’s fighting style. However, this is very minor since the tale never ceases to recall your attention.

In the ruin, Nolan and his suited cast and crew succeed in achieving what was once idea impossible: the resurrection of a film franchise that, if not listless, was at least on life succor. As a result, Batman is once again flying high and BATMAN BEGINS is a film that I wholeheartedly recommend.

My review is about the Skynet edition, not the movie itself … there are plenty of grand reviews already available.

This is clearly the best T2 edition out there. The DTS-HD sound is the best possible … fantastic definition and clarity: I cannot imagine any future release being any better sound wise.

The video is a big step up … big transfer. You have to view very closely at the composite shots to place lighting errors and grains. For those things to be fixed we have to wait for that rumored Cameron remaster … when and if that is going to happen.

Menus and Extras are fully BluRay-fied … they really went all the arrangement to maximize the exhaust of advanced BR features, also plenty of internet extras. Apparently some people have playback issues because of that, however everything works elegant on my PS3.

This is a must have for the BR and Action enthusiast. The DTS-HD sound makes it the fresh BR audio reference movie (for analog films) .

What upsets me is there are people writing reviews and rating this release and then answer they haven’t seen it yet? How is that pleasurable? I wish Amazon would restrict reviews to people they have on characterize buying it … but I guess that would seriously bring down the number of reviews … unexcited it would add more authenticity. Oh well.

You have internet capabilities on your blu ray player. I have a Sony BDP-S300 player and the same thing happened to me that happened to another reviewer. A cover came up from “Skynet” saying that you need a 2.0 player and the blu ray player I have is only a 1.0. The menu finally came up and I selected the Special extended directors Slash(more on that later) and it started to play until it got to the studio canal veil and at 23 seconds it did not recede. So it is the blu ray player and not the disc. I repeat: NOT THE DISC BUT THE BLU RAY PLAYER. Proof of that is then I took the disc and build it in my PS3 and it work perfectly due to the fact that it is twisted up to the internet.

Once I attach it in the PS3, the Blu ray got friggin awesome. Skynet tells you that you are connected and it gives you the city you live in with position code, your email address, the degrees outside where you live and other goodies that only skynet would know. Then once you are pass that it ask you to rob a version.

For everyone wondering there is all three versions of the movie on here unprejudiced like the Ultimate edition. You type in the same code to acquire the special director’s extended edition as on the Ultimate edition which is 82997. There is interactive menus as well as triva games and quizes you can do while you scrutinize the movie as well as narrate in characterize. I havent view everything yet so I cant lisp you all the special features but there is a bunch more. The recount and sound is fabulous and I am overjoyed that I waited for this version of the blu ray as it is basically the Ultimate edition dvd on blu ray. I would recommend this to anyone fair know that there is a valid chance that your blu ray player has to be twisted up to the internet or perhaps have all the latest updates.
